We’re 4, proud Saskatchewan boys and life-long friends (Tony’s the newbie – he joined us 35 years ago) who have been there to share all of life’s ups and downs – marriages, children, deaths in the family, hair thinning (notice only one of us is wearing a hat), Rush & Rider games, and illnesses.
When we were in our early 20’s, Mark was diagnosed with MS and has been in the relapsing-remitting stage for the past 27 years. So, we have a very personal stake in supporting MS research and finding a cure.
We’ve participated in various fundraising events over the years, including the CIBC Run for the Cure and the MS Society’s Bike Ride in Waskesiu. A couple of years ago one of our wives was tired of continually asking our friends and family for money and since, in our adult lives, Mark is a coroner and a comedian (we couldn’t even make that up), one Jeff is in Sales, the other Jeff is in Finance and Tony’s in IT, we decided to use our skills to host a comedy night! With Mark’s comedy duo, Don’t Mind Us, as the headliner, we put together an event in 2 weeks and sold out, raising $5,000. The next year, we found a bit bigger venue and raised $12,000. We are expanding again to an even bigger venue, bigger entertainment, and have a goal to raise $20,000 for MS research being conducted here in Saskatchewan at the Multiple Sclerosis Neuroscience Research Centre in Saskatoon.
We thank our spouses, friends, and family for all their help and support and time spent helping us realize our vision for MAD4MS!
